I was completely overwhelmed by the reality of being a first time mom. Everything seemed so difficult - breastfeeding, recovering from a c-section, learning how to take care of a newborn baby - all on top of really struggling with postpartum depression. My lactation consultant encouraged me to reach out to Katherin and I am so, so, so glad that she did! Katherin helped me gain confidence as a mom and introduced me to tools and strategies that helped me through those crazy early months. She is a kind soul - in addition to being totally knowledgeable, fun, non-judgmental and supportive! Katherin showed me that I was not, in fact, the disaster that I initially thought myself to be. Our little family is super grateful to have met Katherin! 🙂
My son and I joined Katherin's Growing Bonds groups this summer and fall and it was one of the best things I did for myself and my kiddo in those early weeks. Katherin's classes offered us new moms a comfortable place to ask questions, share the ups and downs of life with a newborn, and learn new things about babies, the postpartum period, and parenting. Katherin is kind and warm and truly seems to love supporting moms and families. I know my family will look to Katherin for her skills and support again.
I'm not one that joins groups easily, so it was with some trepidation that I signed up for Katherin's Growing Bonds class in Brookline. But on a daily basis I find myself feeling so glad that I did, even now several weeks after our group came to a close. Every Tuesday morning was such a wonderful time of bonding and play for me and my son, Henry. Katherin's class was perfectly structured to provide a time of learning, loving, silliness, and support.
Her wonderful blend of well-researched knowledge, natural empathy, and obvious delight in babies cultivates a warm, nurturing, safe environment in which I felt comfortable sharing struggles and triumphs.
I will admit to looking at my son one day as he became more alert during the day and thinking, "what are we going to do all day-every day?" Growing Bonds gave me so many tools for exploring new stories, songs, and interactive play that are all actively supporting Henry's development and our loving relationship.
I highly recommend Katherin's services to any expectant, new, or even veteran mom. I only wish I had known about her sooner!
Joining the Seedlings mom and baby class with Katherin in Arlington was easily one of the best things that I did after the arrival of our little boy May of 2014. Katherin was so immediately warm and welcoming and it was such an incredibly safe space to explore new motherhood honestly - all of the joy, wonder, fear, and exhaustion alike! The friendships that I gained from the Seedlings class were so important to me in those early days and very much continue to be so - the bond that formed in our group is truly incredible and Katherin is the one who facilitated and encouraged that and made it possible!
After the first few weeks with my newborn the dust settled, the grandparents were back at work, paternity leave was over, the meal train ended and I thought - what now?! I found and joined a seedlings group with Katherin and it was amazing! I looked forward to every Friday to chat with moms and soak up all the support and knowledge Katherin had to offer. She is kind, patient and open - and I so appreciated her presence during such a wonderful & joyous, but also overwhelming, transition to motherhood.
When my baby was about 5 weeks I decided to join a Katherin's class. It was a wonderful, supportive environment. I was one of those women who thought mommy classes were not for me, but I was so wrong. After the first class I made new friends and we met up with our babies outside of class. It was a great experience.
I can't imagine my first months of motherhood and getting to know my little baby without Katherin. I joined my first mommy/baby class led by her when my son was just 2 weeks old. She gave me confidence in my mothering with her calming, positive, supportive personality and energy. She reminded us all that there is "no right way" or "you should be doing..." with parenting. And, I am forever grateful for the group of moms/babies that I was able to meet through Katherin's class. Becoming a new mother and those early days of motherhood are a vulnerable, sensitive, emotional and amazing time--I am so very thankful that I was able to learn and grow with Katherin's guidance.
Katherin's classes were such a great support during my first few months of motherhood. Not only is she knowledgeable and support, but also practical. I really appreciate the fact that she wants what is best for you and your family. When I came into the class, I was worried I wasn't really hacking it as mom. I didn't feel good about myself or what I was going through. Katherin's class helped normalize my experiences and supported me in trusting myself.
I met Katherin through a mom and baby class she teaches in Arlington. I can honestly say that over the past 12 weeks Katherin has given me so much confidence in being a mom. She has given me valuable advice from how to calm a fussy baby to wearing a Moby Wrap or Ergo correctly. She has helped me adjust my infant seat straps, helped me adjust the Moby Wrap straps, bounced my son on her knee during song time, given me advice on toys, and lent an ear. Her wealth of knowledge and caring has meant so much to me and helped me navigate this new time in my life with so much less stress. Before meeting Katherin I had never heard of a post-partum doula, but I can say that I will be using one with my next child! The support she offers is something I recommend every new mom take advantage of if they are able!
Katherin was the first person after my husband I told I was pregnant. I was nervous and knew pregnancy and babies were her expertise. She guided me long-distance on books and products to help prepare me for the different stages of pregancy, birth, and early childcare. She also coached me over the phone closer to my son's delivery. Very calming. She is very thoughtful and knowledgable! If I weren't 2000 miles away, I would be a regular at her classes!!!
I first met Katherin as an expectant mother in 2010. I was extremely nervous about selecting the right products for my baby and also taking care of myself during the pregnancy. Katherin helped me to select a fantastic portfolio of registry items that our family continues to use today... with our 2 children. She also encouraged me to sign up for prenatal yoga, which changed the path of my pregnancy and helped me channel my nerves. It is also now a staple of my exercise routine. Over the past 4 years of motherhood and 2 births, Katherin has provided endless support, calming advice, practical suggestions and a heavy dose of genuine empathy. She has the right approach and clearly loves to interact with parents and children alike. I would give Katherin my highest recommendation as an parent. My son, also gives Katherin "KA--tin" a big round of applause.
